Seven new 360 cameras from Via, including several Insta360 Air clones

ARM chip manufacturer Via Technology, Inc. announced seven (!) 360 cameras, including a few that look familiar.
All of the cameras are fully spherical with two lenses.  Some are standalone while others are 360 camera accessories that attach to the smartphone, like the Insta360 Air ($129reviewed here).  And I mean they are literally like the Insta360 Air.  I don't know if they have a licensing deal with Insta360, or they just want to keep their in-house lawyers on their toes.

There is not a lot of information about the cameras yet.  But here are the cameras:

1. CHIPTRIP V71

Photo resolution: 3008 x 1504
Video resolution: 1920 x 960 @ 30fps
Aperture: f/2.0
Price: approximately 1075 yuan (~$157)
Available in black or white.

2. FORFUN VV720
I don't know how this differs from the Chiptrip V71.

3. CHIPTRIP V73

Photo resolution: up to 2048 x 1024
Video resolution: up to 2048 x 1024 @ 30fps
Realtime in-camera stitching
360 live streaming
Micro USB or USB Type C
Wholesale price: $78-80 FOB (1,000 pcs minimum order quantity)

4.  FORFUN VV750

Resolution: 2048 x 1024 (not sure if photo or video or both)
Realtime in-camera stitching
Micro USB or USB Type-C
Price: 700 yuan (around $100)
Weight: 36 grams (identical to the Insta360 Air)
Size: 41mm width (identical to the Insta360 Air)

So far, I don't see any difference between this and the V73.

5. EKEN PANO 1
This also looks identical to Chiptrip V73 and FORFUN VV750, but perhaps there is some subtle difference that escapes me...  Oh of course, there's a logo on the side.  Silly me.  But don't ask me to explain why the dimensions are so different.

6. CHIPTRIP V72

Compatible with iOS and Android.

7. FORFUN V1

This one appears to be for Android only.

Thank you very much to Tony Anastasi for bringing this to my attention!

  2. All very low resolution. Most users gets fed up with low resolution within a month...

    1. It's true they are low res. Hopefully these low res cameras encourage people to look at higher res and higher quality cameras as an alternative :)

    1. Hi Rexy. There seems to be no space for a battery or Micro SD card. I would think it's more likely to be a typo just like the difference in dimensions between apparently identical cameras. But maybe I'm wrong.

      Best regards,
      Mic
